Facts about Indian Naval Academy that every aspirant should know

The Indian Naval Academy (INA) is the initial officer training establishment of the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard, located in Ezhimala, Kannur district, Kerala. It conducts basic training for all officers inducted into the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard. Here are some interesting facts about the academy.

Indian Naval Academy

• The Indian Naval Academy is the largest naval academy in Asia. It has campus spread in around 2,452 acres including naval base depot INS Zamorin, and the naval hospital, INHS Navjivani.
• While the Naval Academy (NAVAC) was established in May 1969, its Ezhimala campus was inaugurated on 8 January 2009.
• Its location is between Mount Dilli and the Kavvayi backwater also having a 7 km beach front on the Arabian Sea.
• Imparting quality preparing to the Indian Cadets, the INA, also prepares the best cadets from friendly foreign nations like Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and so on.

• The main academic building complex is situated on the highest point of the academy. This also includes the Service and Technical Training wings
• It accepts and trains up to 1200 cadets for officer-training each year.
• Like the National Defence Academy, the division of cadets is in many squadrons.
• Currently there are 6 squadrons, namely Achiever, Braveheart, Cheetah, Daredevil, Eagle and Fighter.
• Each squadron has four divisions and the divisions further consist of around 50 cadets. And a commissioned officer of the rank of Lieutenant commands a division.
• INA is more than just a training Academy. The administration zone also consists of the Administrative Complex, the naval hospital INHS Navjivani, logistics complex, motor transport complex and the campus fire station.
• And besides that, the campus includes accommodation facilities for staff and their families, with capacity of about 4000.
