From Oracle Engineer to Indian Army Officer

Meet Lt Aabha

In a powerful story of courage, determination, and patriotism, Lt Aabha from Himachal Pradesh has transformed her life from a successful corporate engineer to a commissioned officer in the Indian Army. Her inspiring journey reflects the spirit of dedication to the nation and the strength of family legacy. By choosing the olive green uniform over a lucrative corporate career, Aabha has shown that passion for serving the country can outweigh even the most attractive professional opportunities.

Aabha comes from a family deeply connected with the Indian Armed Forces. She is the daughter of Lance Naik Jeet Singh of the Mahar Regiment, who was awarded the Sena Medal posthumously for his bravery. Inspired by her father’s sacrifice and courage, Aabha grew up with a strong sense of duty toward the nation.

Her decision to join the Army is not just a personal achievement but also the continuation of a three-generation family legacy of service. By becoming an officer, she has also made history in her family as the first woman officer, setting an inspiring example for future generations.

Aabha pursued engineering from the prestigious National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hamirpur. During her college years, she actively participated in the National Cadet Corps (NCC), where she developed leadership skills and military discipline. She eventually rose to the rank of Senior Under Officer (SUO) in NCC, one of the highest leadership positions for cadets.

Her NCC experience played a crucial role in shaping her ambition to join the armed forces. The training, leadership exposure, and patriotic environment strengthened her desire to serve the nation.

After completing her engineering degree, Aabha received a high-paying job offer from the multinational technology company Oracle with a salary package of around ₹10 lakh per annum. For many young graduates, such an opportunity would be the dream start to a successful corporate career.

Aabha underwent rigorous military training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Gaya, one of the key training institutions for officers in the Indian Army. The training program is physically demanding and mentally challenging, designed to build leadership, discipline, and combat readiness.
