Army Cadet College Convocation
The graduation ceremony of the 123rd Course of the Army Cadet College (ACC) was held at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, on Saturday, with 28 cadets being conferred degrees by Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. ACC is an integral feeder wing of the IMA and was established to train and induct deserving soldiers into the Army’s officer cadre. After three years of training at ACC, the graduating course will join the Indian Military Academy for one year of pre-commissioning training.
Congratulating the cadets in his convocation address for completing their challenging three years of training at ACC, Lt Gen Sandeep Jain, Commandant IMA, said that the degrees which the cadets have received represents a major milestone in their career and marks the end of an initial, but immensely important phase of their professional life.
During the ceremony, Wing Cadet Quarter master (WCQM) Dinesh Kumar was awarded the gold medal of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for standing first in overall order of merit. The COAS silver medal was awarded to Wing Cadet captain (WCC) Jitendra thirpola while the bronze medal was awarded to Company quarter master sergeant (CQMS) Vikas Chouhan. Similarly, the Comdant’s Silver medal for getting the first rank in Science stream service subjects was awarded to WCQM Dinesh Kumar & the medal for getting the first rank in the Humanities stream & Service subjects was awarded to WCC Jitendra thirpola.
WCQM Dinesh Kumar hails from the Hanumangarh district in Rajasthan & aspiring to join Army aviation. And WCC Jitendra hails from Khatima, Uttrakhand & aspiring to join Gorkha rifles.
The Commandant’s Banner was awarded to the Bogra Company for excelling in various competitions like X country , Bonding Ex & academics.
Brigadier Sameer Karol, Commander ACC, highlighted the commitment and dedication shown by the cadets and appreciated them for their all-around excellence.
