Award Ceremony For Indian Military Cadets (IMA) Cadets Of Spring Term 2020. Medals and rolling trophies were presented to the outstanding gentlemen cadets who excelled in various fields during their pre-commission training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, at the Award Ceremony of Spring Term Passing Out Courses comprising 146th Regular Course and 129th Technical Graduate Course.

The cadets, including those from friendly foreign countries, were felicitated by Lt Gen JS Negi, Commandant, IMA.

Addressing the cadets, he said that the country demands willing, unhesitating, unfaltering obedience and loyalty from each young officer. Stating that leadership is composite of a number of qualities, the most important of which are self-confidence, moral ascendancy, self-sacrifice, fairness, initiative, decision, dignity and courage.

He added that it is important for an officer to maintain a competitive streak within the parameters of sportsmanship and fairplay at all times. In the profession of arms, it is always a collective and a team effort that is important and there are no runners-up in war, he said.

The training imparted to the cadets at the IMA is designed to provide a comprehensive knowledge of military fundamentals and leadership, as well as proficiency in basic military skills. It aims to develop the qualities of character, intellect, fitness and competence needed by future ready officers, who at all times in their career must be prepared to lead.

While the COVID-19 outbreak disrupted training in most educational institutes in the world, IMA implemented an effective COVID action plan integrating all preventive guidelines outlined by the Ministry of Health, Army Headquarters and Army Training Command. It was also ensured that there was no dilution in training standards and all precautions were taken with a healthy routine being evolved for them.

This years passing out parade will be streamed live on YouTube at 6:30 Am on the official YoutTube channel of Indian Army. The step was taken as the parents are not allowed to attend the POP amid coronavirus pandemic.
