Organisation that Helps Indian Army Veterans Become an Entrepreneur

Story of  RY Naidu from Retd. Havaldar to an Entrepreneur

• For more than two decades, RY Naidu served as a Havildar at ER-5 unit of the Indian Army.
• As he inched closer to the retirement, Naidu began to look for an alternative livelihood.
• He was sure not to take usual paths but wish to become an entrepreneur.
• 20 days before his retirement Naidu attended the 5 day I Create India’s ‘Aspiring Entrepreneur’ workshop in Bengaluru in September 2018.
• It was simply a start of his second innings as an Entrepreneur.

“I understood that to start a business I don’t need extraordinary skills and just play to my strengths. I decided to start an RO plant as I have worked in the water treatment plant in the Army.”

The I Create India’s Aspiring Entrepreneur Model

• I Create is a non-profit organisation focussed on entrepreneurship and employability skill development.
• In 2016, it signed MOU with Directorate of Indian Army Veterans to establish business incubation centres.
• These Business incubation centre are spread in Army units all over the country.
• The motive is to help veterans and their families to start their own enterprise.

• Through a 5 day workshop, held every month across India, it creates awareness on entrepreneurial skills in practical workshops.
• It further includes mentoring sessions for business plan preparation and execution.
