Republic Day Parade Rehearsal
The full dress rehearsal of the Republic Day Parade 2026 was held on 23 January at Kartavya Path. It offered a spectacular glimpse into India’s upcoming Republic Day celebrations. The rehearsal reflected India’s rich cultural heritage, military strength, and unity in diversity. Marching contingents of the Armed Forces and vibrant state tableaux showcased India’s diverse traditions and achievements. The event created an inspiring preview of the grandeur awaiting the nation on 26 January.
The theme of the Republic Day Parade 2026 will mark 150 years of “Vande Mataram.” A special series of paintings created by Shri Tejendra Kumar Mitra in 1923 will be showcased along Kartavya Path. These artworks illustrate the verses of Vande Mataram and were originally published in the Bande Mataram Album (1923). During the parade, these paintings will be displayed as view-cutters, adding historical and artistic significance to the celebrations. At the conclusion of the parade, a banner depicting “वंदेमातरम्” will be unveiled, followed by the release of rubber balloons.
