Uttar Pradesh is the top contributor of Soldiers

There wouldn’t be a village in Uttar Pradesh that hasn’t contributed a soldier or “Fauji”, as referred in Uttar Pradesh. But did you know about a village that has given highest soldiers in Indian Army?
Gahmar village, nestled in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district, has earned renown as India’s largest contributor to the armed forces. With approximately 20,000 jawans hailing from this village, its commitment to national service is unparalleled. The village boasts 35 Colonels and 42 officers, and its 22 localities are each named after distinguished men. Daily training sessions, led by veterans, ensure that the legacy continues. A specially constructed 1600-meter track facilitates rigorous preparation for aspiring recruits
One must understand that population is the main factor determining the top contribution here. For example Regions like Goa, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands contribute very few soldiers due to their small populations and limited military recruitment infrastructure.
Similarly, fewer people from northeastern states such as Sikkim, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, and Meghalaya enlist in the regular Army, Navy, and Air Force, while more actively joining paramilitary forces like the Assam Rifles and ITBP.
