AFCAT exam is an online test conducted by C-DAC on behalf of the Indian Air force. Through this entry, Indian Air force inducts quality men & women. These turn out to become the best Fighter pilots, technical & ground duty officers.
The Air Force Academy is located at Dundigal. It is about 25 km away from the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
How To Join AFA
There are two steps of Joining AFA. First one is Passing AFCAT Written exams & the second one is clearing a subsequent AFSB interview.
How Difficult is AFCAT Online Exam
This is an objective type paper on the computers of CDAC (Multiple choice questions). AFCAT written exam consists of Only 1 Paper.

Additionally, candidate appearing for technical branch must give EKT (Engineering knowledge Test). EKT test is immediately after AFCAT Exam.
Usually scoring 45%-55% is not a big deal but difficulty arises with the negative marking.
After the exam, a cut off marks will be decided. If your total score exceeds or is equal to the cut off; only then you will be considered passed. You will get to know the details of your paper after the result is declared.
Once you have cleared your written exam, you will get a call for interview often called as AFSB Interview (Air Force selection Board interview)
When is AFCAT Exam?
AFCAT exam is conducted twice in a year in the month of February and November. To appear in the exam one has to apply online 2-3 months prior to the exam date when the applications are out.

What is the Eligibility for AFCAT Entry?
Age | Your age should be between 20-24 for flying branch 20-26 for technical branch & ground duty Note: Age limit is at the time of “joining academy” |
Flying branch | Minimum of 60% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level Atleast 60% in Graduation from a recognized university. PABT is compulsory for flying branch. |
Technical branch | Minimum of 60% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level Atleast 60% in B.E/Btech. EKT is compulsory for technical branch. |

AFCAT Exam Interview
After clearing your exam, you will receive a call letter for AFSB interview. Once you are recommended by the Interview Board, you will undergo a total medical examination. At this stage if you are declared medically unfit you will be sent back. As soon as you are declared medically fit, your name will be accommodated in the Merit List.
As per the vacancy, those topping merit list are called for joining the Course. Rest of the candidates will be considered merit out and have to undergo the same procedure again from scratch including written examination.
Training at Air Force Academy
All your expenses will be borne by the government. You will be provided with all basic necessities and leisure wherever required.
Over these benefits you are also liable to receive stipend per month. The stipend keeps accumulating till your Passing out parade (POP) and total sum can be encashed at the end.
Once you are commissioned as an officer, your starting salary will range anywhere around 100k keeping aside all other benefits and perks
