OTA Chennai Passing Out Parade 2024
The passing out parade of the Officers Training Academy (OTA) Chennai will be held on 09 March 2024.
The Passing out Parade of Officers Training Academy is one of the most prestigious military events which marks the culmination of the 49 weeks long and arduous training at the academy. The parents and the family members of the Passing Out Officer Cadets will also attend the event and solemnise the pipping ceremony.
Before the POP, various end term events such as Ball Night, Variety Entertainment Programme, Combined Display and Military Band Symphony followed by RO Dinner Night where toasts are offered to the Passing out Course, will take place at the academy.
The Passing Out Parade is the most spectacular event in the series of the end-of-term events at OTA. It is also the culminating event of another successful term. The Parade is held at the Parameshwaran Drill Square and displays drill movements synchronised with the accompanying band. The haunting strains of ‘Auld Lang Syne’ and the Adjutant on his charger accompanying the passing out Officer Cadets to The Final Steps stays with the Officers throughout their lives.
The final ceremony of the POP day is the Pipping Ceremony where the Officers get to don the coveted stars of a Lieutenant. A solemn Ceremony is held where Officers take the Oath in the name of the Constitution of India in the presence of Indian Tricolour and consecrated by Religious Teachers of all faiths.
Officers Training Academy or OTA Chennai is a premier institute of Indian Army for training Men and Women into officers for the Short Service Commission into Indian Army.
The Academy is located amid a sprawling estate of 650 acres traversed by River Adyar adjoining the Chennai International and Domestic Airport, about 15 kms from the Chennai Central Railway Station along the Grand Southern Trunk (GST) Road in Chennai.
