Hair standards for women in Indian Military
Have you ever wondered about the actual hair standards for women in Indian military. Women are being enrolled in various academies to join Army, Navy or Air force. Therefore there is a certain doubt whether there any hairstyle restrictions for girls in the Indian Military during training period or post commissioning.
Through this article we will understand the basic hair standards which has to be maintained in the military. Candidates undergoing training for Army need to have a boy cut during training period whereas there is no such restriction in Air force and Navy.
Post training Women Officers are to dress their hair in such a manner that the hair do not fall over the forehead, shoulders or over the ears, or otherwise appear to be disheveled. Also no streak in various colours and no perming is permitted. Specifically, with respect to different types of hair styling, the following is to be ensured:

(a) Officers with long hair. When in Uniform, Officers will dress their hair neatly and tie them in a bun covered under a net.
(b) Officers with Bobbed Hair. The hair will be tied in a pony tail and pinned up neatly.
(c) Officers with short (boycut) Hair. It is to be ensure that the hair and side locks are properly trimmed.
