  • According to the sources, the Indian Navy undertook the medical treatment and evacuation of Australian Navy Officer on 23rd April 2019.
  • The Australian Navy officer was evacuated from HMAS Collins when she was transiting from Chennai to Australia.
  • It was reported to the Indian Navy that the Australian Officer developed acute abdominal pain and sought medical evacuation.
  • After this incident arrangement were made by HQANC to transfer the patient from the open sea to Indian Navy Hospital.
  • INHS Dhanvatari at Port Blair undertook the medical treatment of ailing Australian lady officer.
  • The Australian officer was provided with the necessary treatment and was discharged.
  • The officer is hale and hearty now to fly back to her country today.


About Andaman and Nicobar Command of India Navy

  • It is based at Port Blair in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
  • The command is the first and only tri-service theatre command of the Indian Armed Forces.
  • It was basically created in the year 2001 aimed at providing strategic importance and dominance of India over the Indian Ocean.
  • The command could also be used for rapid deployment of military assets in the region in the time of crisis.
  • Moreover provides logistical and administrative support to naval ships which are deployed in East Asia and the Pacific Ocean.
