LYRICS OF THE SONGS ARE :
Ek khubsurat ladki thi, Usko
Usko dekh ke rifleman,
Chindi kheechna bhul Gaya,
Havildar major dekh liya,
Usko pithoo lagaya, Badluram
Badluram ek sipahi tha,
Japan war me mar gaya,
Quarter master smart tha,
Usne ration nikala
Badluram ka badan zameen ka neeche hai,
Badluram ka badan zameen ka neeche hai,
Badluram ka badan zameen ka neeche hai,
Toh humey uska ration milta hai Shabaash,
hallelujah Shabaash, hallelujah
So the story is that Assam Regiment was fighting WORLD WAR II in Japan. India was still under British rule then. Badluram, a sepoy, was martryred during the war. Every soldier was entitled to ration (food supplies). The Quarter Master was supposed to report deaths of the soldiers to the authorities so that the ration for the martyred soldier could be stopped. But his Quarter Master did not remove his name from the list and continued to take rations on his name. Some say he forgot to remove the name. Others claim that this was his smart move. So they had surplus food supplies as badluram’s rations still kept coming. During the war, when Japanese Army surrounded them and cut off their supplies, this ration taken out on BADLURAM’s name helped the soldiers survive.
So this song is dedicated to him as rations on his name helped his comrades survive!!
