RVC Notification 2026. The Indian Army has released the official notification for the Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Remount Veterinary Corps (RVC) for both male and female candidates. This is a prestigious opportunity for veterinary graduates to serve in the Indian Army and contribute towards the care and management of military animals.
The RVC plays a crucial role in the Army by ensuring the health and well-being of animals such as horses, mules, and dogs, which are actively used in various operational and logistical roles. Candidates selected through this entry will be granted Short Service Commission and will serve as Veterinary Officers in the Indian Army.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the RVC SSC entry must possess a recognized degree of BVSc & AH (Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry) from a recognized university. Additionally, applicants must be registered with the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) or any State Veterinary Council.
Applicants who are in their final year of BVSc & AH and are completing their internship may also apply, provided they submit proof of completion before the specified deadline.
In terms of age criteria, candidates should typically fall between 21 to 32 years as on the last date of submission of application form.

Vacancies
The recruitment includes vacancies for both male and female candidates. There are 18 vacancies for male and 02 vacancies for female candidates.
Selection Process
The selection process for RVC SSC entry does not include a written examination. Candidates are shortlisted based on their academic performance and are then called for the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview. The cut off will be applied on the cumulative percentage of marks obtained by the candidates unto the final semester/year.
Candidates whose applications are found in order shall be detailed to appear for the services selection board on a specified date.
The SSB interview is a comprehensive process that evaluates candidates on various parameters including intelligence, personality, leadership qualities, and suitability for a career in the armed forces. Candidates who clear the SSB are then required to undergo a medical examination.
A final merit list is prepared based on SSB performance and medical fitness.
Training and Commission
Selected candidates will be granted Short Service Commission in the Indian Army. They will undergo military training before being commissioned as officers in the Remount Veterinary Corps. Candidates will be commissioned in the rank of Captain.
The initial tenure of SSC is typically 5 years, which can be extended further based on performance and organizational requirements.
Selected candidates will be detailed on post commission training at RVC Centre & College, Meerut.
Roles and Responsibilities
Officers in the RVC are responsible for the healthcare, breeding, training, and management of military animals. They also play a key role in operational logistics, especially in difficult terrains where animal transport is crucial.

Registration is not required if already registered on the website. After getting registered, click on ‘Apply Online’ under Dashboard. A page ‘Officers Selection’ – Eligibility will open. Then click ‘Apply’ shown against Short Service Commission (RVC). A page ‘Application form’ will open. Read the instructions carefully and click ‘Continue’ to fill as required.
The last date for submission of online form is 18 May 2026.
