SIMBEX 20 : Singapore India Maritime Bilateral Exercise
SIMBEX 20 Naval exercise has begun from 23 November in the Andaman Sea. The Indian Navy is hosting the exercise for 3 days with Republic of Singapore Navy. The exercise will conclude on 25th November 2020. The Expansion of SIMBEX is Singapore India Maritime Bilateral Exercise .
The Exercise is aimed to strengthen the relationship between India and Singapore. Due to Covid 19, exercise will be “non-contact, at sea only”. The SIMBEX 20 exercise will enhance the inter operability of both the Navies and will give an opportunity to learn the best practices from each other. The first edition SIMBEX exercise was conducted in 1994.
The Indian Navy is represented by Destroyer INS Rana, Corvettes INS Kamorta and INS Karmuk, INS Sindhuraj Submarine and P8I Maritime Surveillance Aircraft. The two Naval ships i.e. Stealth Frigate Intrepid and Landing Ship Tank Endeavour are representing the Singapore Navy.
Both Indian and Singapore navies will participate in advanced surface, anti-air warfare and anti-submarine warfare exercises including weapon firings, over three days of intensive joint operations at sea.
