Inter Services Training Academies Sports Meet  Bakshi Cup 2019

• The Indian Naval Academy (INA) won the prestigious annual Inter Services Officers Training Academies sports meet, the Bakshi Cup 2019, held at the Indian Naval Academy,Ezhimala.
• This is the second time INA has won the Bakshi Cup since its inception,the first being 2017.
• Bakshi Cup 2019 was a closely contested affair with INA beating IMA and NDA by 1 and 2 points respectively.
• Bakshi cup 2019 consisted of 6 sporting events:Cross Country,Football,Volleyball,Squash,Tennis and Basketball.

Brief History Of Bakshi Cup:

• Bakshi Cup is an annual Inter Services sports meet for trainees of six premier Officers Training Academies, viz., National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakvasla, the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, Air Force Academy (AFA), Dundigul, Officers' Training Academy (OTA), Chennai and Officers' Training Academy (OTA), Gaya.
• The sports meet dates back to early 1960s, when Major General Ranbir Bakshi, then Commandant of the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakvasla, instituted the event to be contested between the NDA and the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun. The INA was included as the third participant in 2013, followed by AFA, OTA Chennai and OTA Gaya.
