10 new events on 70th Republic day parade

We celebrated our 70^th Republic day with zeal. On this day in 1950 our constitution of India came into effect. It is of great importance in the history of democracy of the country. This day signifies the right spirit for the independent India where Indian President hoists our national flag and grand military parades along with various other breathtaking events take place at Raj path.

This post will focus mainly on the new things that happened for the first time this year. Let's begin.

1. Twenty-two tableau from different states showcased the life of Bapu and how he struggled to free India from the reign of the Britishers. 

2. The parade witnessed for the very first time that four veteran soldiers of the ‘Azad Hind Fauz’ aged above 90 years will take part in the ceremony at Rajpath. We all are aware of how important was this army for our independence. This republic day honoured them for their bravery.

3. The Republic Day parade Indian army showcased the new inclusion weapons like M777 Howitzer and K9 Vajra, the self-propelled gun which are the latest artilleries inducted in the Indian Army.

4. One of the most awaited events of the parade was to witness the all-women contingent of Assam Rifles marching on the raj path with proper coordination and full of enthusiasm for the very first time.

5. It was the first time that a woman officer Lt Bhavana Kasturi lead the Army Services Corps in the 2019 Republic Day parade.

6. First-time lady officer Capt Shikha Surabhi from the Corps of Signals performed bike stunts alongside her male teammates as part of daredevils was a significant attraction on Republic Day. All this shows that women are no less than men and are walking shoulder to shoulder in all walks of life.

7. This was also the first time when the Gorkha Brigade participated as a contingent in the parade lead by Capt Abhaysheraz Sandhu.

8. AN-32 military transport aircraft for the first time flew over raj path powered by bio-fuel. This shows our determination to save the planet and use the fossil fuel judiciously.

9. For the first time, Shankhnaad, a military tune composed by an Indian classical music exponent based on a poem penned by a Mahar Regiment veteran, was played during the parade replacing the old martial tune of IAF.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        

10. The first time the contingents of IAF marched on the tune of an astronaut in the parade at Rajpath and the theme for the IAF tableau this year was ‘Indian Air Force: Safeguarding Indian Skies’.
