Territorial Army Notification 2026
The Indian Army is all set to release the official notification for Territorial Army Officer Recruitment 2026, offering a unique opportunity for working professionals to serve the nation without leaving their primary careers. Unlike regular army jobs, the Territorial Army provides a part-time commitment, allowing individuals to contribute to national service while continuing in their civilian professions. As per the notice, the application process will begin on 20 April 2026 and will continue till 19 May 2026, while the written examination is scheduled to be conducted on 12 July 2026.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible, candidates must be Indian citizens aged between 18 and 42 years, must hold a graduate degree from a recognized university, and most importantly, should be gainfully employed. In addition, candidates must meet the required physical and medical standards set by the Indian Army.
Vacancies
A total of 12 vacancies have been announced, including 11 for male candidates and 1 for female candidates, although these numbers may change based on organizational requirements.
Selection Process
The selection process consists of a Computer-Based Test (CBT) followed by the SSB Interview and a medical examination. The written exam will be conducted in a single session of two hours and will include three sections, that is Reasoning, General Knowledge, and English. Question paper will have a total of 100 questions carrying 100 marks. Candidates should note that there is a negative marking of 0.33 marks for each incorrect answer. The standard of the exam is generally equivalent to that of a graduate level examination.
The admit card will be made available online for being downloaded by the candidates 10 to 15 days before exam.
Candidates who clear all stages of the selection process are commissioned as officers in the Territorial Army, starting at the rank of Lieutenant, and receive salary and benefits similar to regular army officers as per the pay matrix.
Along with the basic pay, officers are also entitled to Military Service Pay (MSP) and other allowances. However, it is important to understand that this is not a full-time role; selected candidates are required to undergo mandatory training for a minimum of two months every year, and they may be called for extended service depending on organizational needs.
