But, do you know what these appointments are, what they signify, and who gets these? Today, we share answers to all these questions with you.

Let us begin by understanding why these OTA Chennai appointments are given and what difference they make. As we shared with you, leadership is paramount in the military, and this is nurtured with each day. Hence, specific officer cadets who prove their potential through their performance are given ranks as rewards. They are relevant as they:

OTA Chennai Appointments and Ranks
Before we begin, please know that the appointments at Officers Training Academy are based on the academic terms. Hence, we will elaborate on it based on the following concept starting with the lowest level and going to the highest.

Company Sergeant Major
The Company Sergeant Major or CSM occupies the next position in the hierarchy of OTA Chennai appointments. This cadet is responsible for the daily discipline of cadets in the company and is often the one who initiates ragda to the cadets.

Senior Under Officer
Next in the list of OTA Chennai appointments is the Senior Under Officer or SUO, who is the highest-ranking officer cadet of the company. This individual holds the command of the entire company and acts as the liaison officer between the cadets and the officers.

Battalion Cadet Adjutant
The Battalion Cadet Adjutant (BCA) is one level higher than the SUO and looks after the entire battalion that he is appointed to. He enforces rules, coordinates the parade, and acts as a point of contact as well.

Academy Cadet Adjutant
Above the BUO lies the Academy Cadet Adjutant or ACA. This appointee is the counterpart of the BCA at the academy-level. This means that he carries the same responsibilities, but for the entire academy.

Academy Under Officer
Finally, we come to the Academy Under Officer (AUO) who is the highest-ranking officer cadet in the list of OTA Chennai appointments. This cadet is often the most meritorious among all others and generally receives the prestigious Sword of Honour.
