AFCAT 2 2026: Strategy for Last 30 Days

Now that we have an idea about the syllabus and vacancies for each branch, we must delve into the strategy to successfully crack AFCAT 2 2026 in the last 30 days.

Week 1: Build conceptual clarity

Conceptual clarity is the first step to cracking any exam in the world and AFCAT is no different. Start by brushing up the basics and studying at least six to eight hours daily.

For English, focus on grammar rules, vocabulary, idioms and phrases, and reading comprehension. This is the most scoring part and you should try to get maximum marks in this section.

In reasoning and military aptitude, attempt a few questions from each topic. You may refer to any reasoning book for competitive exams. Once done, understand where you lagged and learn the basics of solving those questions for AFCAT.

When it comes to numerical ability, you must learn relevant formulae, and practice as many questions as you can. The most obvious questions come from chapters such as percentage, ratio and proportion, time and work, probability, and profit and loss. If you’re short on time, try doing these chapters at least.

Lastly, in general awareness, focus on current affairs of the last six to eight months, defence exercises, and the Indian Air Force (IAF). Questions appear most from subjects like Science, Polity, and Geography. Therefore, do not miss out on these core subjects.

Week 2: Practice topic-wise questions

Once you are through with the basics, start studying topic-wise. Aim for about 100 to 150 questions each day. You may practice from the new edition of our book AFCAT: The First Step for thorough revision. It offers simple tricks for the entire mathematics syllabus, and makes AFCAT a cakewalk.

Week 3: Mock tests

Now it is time for building accuracy and speed in an exam hall-like environment. Try to attempt at least one full mock everyday within two hours. Once done, analyse your mistakes, create a list of areas of improvement, and start revision again. This way you will complete about 7-10 mock tests before your AFCAT 2 2026 examination and appear for it confidently. Mock tests are available on the official site of EDCIL and other online platforms.

Week 4: The Last Revision

This is the last phase of preparation. You’ve come a long way now so, you must recall what you have studied. Revise everything that you have read in the past three weeks and do not start any new topics. You may also watch marathon videos on YouTube for live revision and feel free before the D-day.

Exam Day Strategy for AFCAT 2 2026

A day before the AFCAT 2 2026 exam, prepare your dress, and documents. Do not forget to carry the following to your centre:

  • AADHAR card
  • PAN card or any identification document mentioned in your admit card
  • A transparent-bodied pen
  • Two passport size photographs (same as the one in the application)

Get sound sleep of 7-8 hours and the next day, eat something light, and stay hydrated. Reach the centre before time to avoid any hassle. Once you are inside the exam hall, take a deep breath and know that you are the best.

Attempt the section that you’re most comfortable with first, and avoid spending too much time on a single question. Lastly, avoid random guess work because AFCAT has negative marking. All the best!
