Vacancies
According to the TES 57 notification, there are a total of 90 vacancies for the July 2027 Course. However, the document also states that these vacancies are provisional and can be changed depending on the training capacity at the Cadets Training Wings (CTWs) for this
course.
This clearly means that 90 is not an absolute number and can either be decreased or increased based on the requirement and capacity of the institution.
Training
The TES 57 notification also elaborates on the type of commission and training that the qualified candidates will receive. According to the official sources, all candidates who clear the SSB interview and subsequent procedures will undergo a mandatory training for four years.
This mandatory training will happen in two phases at the following Pre-Commissioned Training Academies:
- Phase 1: Integrated basic military and engineering training at the Cadets Training Wings located at CME, Pune/MCTE, Mhow/MCEME,
- Secunderabad for three years.

After the successful completion of their four years of training, each commissioned cadet will also receive an Engineering degree. Also, they will be commissioned under the Permanent Commission and be eligible for pension.

Choice of Arms
Interestingly, a few weeks prior to the completion of training, all cadets will have to give their preference of arms or services of the Indian Army. This means that you will not necessarily serve in the technical arms of the Indian Army.
As per the TES 57 notification, candidates will be eligible for commission in all Arms & Services of the organization. However, majority will be getting commission in the Corps of Engineers, Corps of Signals and Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers.
Hence, you can give a preference for yourself, but the final allocation of arms will depend on the organizational requirements.
Selection Procedure
The TES 57 notification also states the selection procedure for the July 2027 Course explicitly. It will look as follows:
Application > Shortlisting > SSB > Medical > Merit List > Joining Letter
This means that the candidates will have to apply for the said entry through the official website joinindianarmy.nic.in and the same will be shortlisted by the organization.
All candidates who are shortlisted will be called for the SSB interview at one of the four selection centres, where they will undergo five days of testing. Those who get recommended will undergo medical tests to ascertain their medical fitness.
After this, subject to their documentation, and merit position, candidates will be issued joining letters to their respective training academy.
Merit List
It must be noted that mere qualifying at the SSB Interview does not confirm final Selection.
The finalization of the merit list is solely based on the marks obtained by the candidate at the SSB Interview. Higher educational qualifications, previous performances, NCC background, and other factors do not have a role to play in the preparation of the merit list.
