Army Cadet College
The Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, witnessed a proud moment on Sunday as 73 cadets of the Army Cadet College (ACC) Wing were awarded bachelor’s degrees after successfully completing three years of rigorous academic and military training.
The graduation ceremony was held at the iconic Chetwode Hall and marked an important milestone in the professional journey of these future Army officers.
The cadets of the 127th ACC Course have now completed the first major phase of their transformation from soldiers into leaders. Their next destination will be the Indian Military Academy, where they will undergo pre-commission training before being commissioned as officers in the Indian Army.

What Is the Army Cadet College?
Many defence aspirants are familiar with NDA, CDS, and OTA entries, but fewer know about the unique pathway offered by the Army Cadet College.
The Army Cadet College is a feeder institution of the Indian Military Academy. It provides serving soldiers from the ranks an opportunity to become commissioned officers. Selected personnel undergo a three-year programme that combines graduation-level education with military training and leadership development.
The ACC route is often considered one of the most inspiring examples of upward mobility in the Indian Army, where dedicated soldiers can rise through merit, hard work, and leadership potential.

The Unique Journey from Soldier to Officer
Unlike many officer-entry schemes where candidates join directly after school or college, ACC cadets begin their careers as soldiers.
Having served in units and experienced military life first hand, they bring valuable practical knowledge and field experience to officer training. The ACC programme helps them build upon that foundation through academics, leadership development, and military education.
This unique background often makes ACC graduates highly respected leaders who understand both the responsibilities of command and the realities faced by troops on the ground.

What Happens After Graduation?
Graduating from ACC does not mean the journey is complete.
The 73 cadets will now proceed to the Indian Military Academy for their pre-commission training. During this phase, they will further develop the leadership qualities, military skills, and professional competence required of commissioned officers.
Upon successful completion, they will join the ranks of the Indian Army as officers entrusted with leading soldiers and serving the nation.
