75th Republic Day Parade
The 75th Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path on January 26, 2024 will be women centric, with the themes of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Bharat – Loktantra ki Matruka’.
For the first time, the parade will be heralded by 100 women artists playing Indian musical instruments. The parade would commence with the music of Sankh, Naadswaram, Nagada, etc. to be played by women artists.
The parade will also witness an all-women Tri-Service contingent marching down Kartavya Path for the first time. The CAPF contingents will also consist of women personnel. Best representation of women will be seen in this year’s Republic Day parade.
With just under 5 months of service, Lieutenants Deepti Rana and Priyanka Sevda are set to showcase the Swathi weapon locating radar and Pinaka rocket system during the Republic Day parade. They belong to the group of 10 women officers who were commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery for the first time last year.
Another contingent hails from the Directorate General of the Armed Forces Medical Services, showcasing the dedicated service of military nursing services. Led by women doctors, this contingent, inclusive of nurses, will showcase the multifaceted contributions of women in various capacities within the armed forces.
Women officers will take the helm of the Indian Coast Guard contingent during this year’s Republic Day parade, showcasing a significant stride towards gender inclusivity in the country’s armed forces.
Expressing her pride in leading the Indian Coast Guard contingent, Assistant Commandant Priya said that the parade serves as a national platform to showcase the strength and capabilities of women in the armed forces.
