What is an AFSB Centre?
Before we tell you how to select AFSB centre at home, you need to know what that really is. The AFSB stands for Air Force Selection Board and it is the place where the interviews for the Indian Air Force take place. Candidates from across the country sit for the CDS and AFCAT exams to get shortlisted for the interview. Currently, there are a total of five AFSB centres in the country, namely:
- 1 AFSB Dehradun
- 2 AFSB Mysuru
- 3 AFSB Gandhinagar
- 4 AFSB Varanasi
- 5 AFSB Guwahati

How To Select AFSB Centre Online?
We realize how much time really matters now with numerous candidates wanting to know how to select AFSB centre of their choice. So without wasting any time, let us get started.
We tell you how to select AFSB centre from the comfort of your home with a step-by-step guide. But, before that please ensure the following:
- You must have cleared AFCAT for the current cycle, that is, (II) 2026.
- You must login to your profile on afcat.edcil.co.in before date selection. Please do not rely on any other site.
One you’re through, the process is simple:
- Login to your profile on the official website of AFCAT by EdCIL using your user ID, password, and the displayed captcha code. Your user ID is mentioned on your admit card and begins with the word, “AFCAT”.
- Once you’re inside your profile you will see a dropdown menu with a range of options as follows. Here, click on, “AFSB Selection”.
- Now, you will be redirected to another webpage titled, “Slot Booking – AFSB Selection (Female/Male)”. Under this page you will also see two options: either to enter the name of the place or its pin code, or to select a place from the dropdown menu. For your convenience, choose the second one.
- Select “India” as the country and then choose the “State” and “City” of your choice as shown in the picture below and search for the same.
- The same page will show you the AFSB centre of your choice. Click on “Book” and you will see two dropdown menus again. Tap on “Select Slot Booking Date” and a calendar will display the list of available dates for that centre.
- You will notice that some dates are coloured green while others are red. The green-coloured date means that the AFSB centre has a slot for that day. You can choose the same accordingly.
- Once done, please confirm the preferred time slot from the second dropdown menu and download the call-up letter for yourself. Congratulations! You have an AFSB lined up.
Essentials When You Choose Your Centre
While you have understood how to select AFSB centre online, please also take the following points into consideration:
- Select a date that suits your preparation and not an immediate one.
- Please know that the facility to choose your AFSB centre is only available till 14th September (2300 hours). So, be quick.
- Understand your travel convenience, and choose an AFSB centre that is closest to your place.
- Consider the weather of the place, as in, if you do not feel comfortable in winters, don’t choose a date at that time of the year.
- Avoid choosing an option based on Internet rumours like selection/screen in ratio or repeater-friendly boards among others.
