Indian defence personnel who made India proud in sports

All of you know that India has the second largest active military in the world. It makes India one of the top emerging defence forces in the world. When we get the first impression of any person, we get the idea of his weakness or drawback. But talking about a defence personnel, we always get impressed and motivated from his personality. This is because a person from the Defence force has none of his personality traits undeveloped.

 

And this is the reason that they are good in every possible field. Like we have seen that a major part of the medalist in the Asian or commonwealth games are from the defence forces. So today let us talk about them. 

 
Jinson Johnson

Jinson Johnson also holds the rank of Naib Subedar( a JCO). He went on to win the gold medal in the men's 1500m at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia as well as a silver medal in 800 metres. Taking part in the 2018 commonwealth games, he also broke the 23 year old national record in the 1500 metres race.

 

Tejinder Pal Singh

Navy personnel Tejinder Pal Singh Toor bagged a gold medal in men’s shot put, setting a new record at 20.75 m.

 

Neeraj Chopra

Naib Subedar Neeraj Chopra represented India at the 2018 Asian games. He won a gold medal, setting the national record of 88.06 m. And at the 2018 Commonwealth Games where he also clinched the gold medal. He was also selected as the flag-bearer at the opening ceremony for India at the 2018 Asian Games.

 

Jitu Rai

Subedar Jitu Rai won gold for India in the 10-meter air pistol event at the Commonwealth Games 2018. And the Government of India has also announced Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award(the highest sporting award of India) for him in 2016.

 

Havildar Gaurav Solanki

Havildar Gaurav Solanki of Army Sports Institute, Pune won Gold Medal in boxing event at the Commonwealth Games 2018, Gold Coast. He completes in the 52 kg category.

The defence services have played a prominent role in training these sportspersons. In 2001, the Indian Army also started 'Mission Olympics'. It took up the task of training talented sportspersons in 11 sports disciplines such as rowing, archery, athletics and boxing at the international level. Army Sports Institute in Pune and Army Equestrian Node in Meerut and three other sports nodes were started under it. Apart from their exceptional devotedness and love for the nation, they are also making India proud in other fields. So let's give them a big salute!
