In today’s blog, we are going to discuss a very intriguing thing that is the norms for facial hairs in the Armed forces.
It is a fact that armed forces are all about disciplined lifestyle but under some norms and sometimes circumstances the personnel is allowed to have beards.
This blog is going to be really interesting as beards are in trends these days so aspirants who like beard could see all possible scope to have one in the service.
It is a fact that the Indian Armed Forces doesn’t allow beard or facial hairs for its soldiers.
It is all about maintaining discipline and uniformity in the Armed Forces.
Who all are allowed to grow facial hairs?
- PARA SF:
Yes if you are a part of the Para Special Forces then you are allowed to grow beards.
Now why Para SF is allowed?
Well, there are two main reasons why Para SF is allowed to sport a beard:
- To induce familiarity with the local population. It will keep your identity secret there and could be a life-saving thing during covert operations.
- To keep acclimatized with the weather at the high altitude where your hairs can only keep you warm throughout.
- Marcos:
Also, the Marcos of the Indian Navy is allowed to grow beards like that of the Para SF.
The reasons for growing beard are same as that of the Para SF.
The terrorists are so dreaded of the Marcos that they sometimes call them “dadhi wali fauz”.
- Indian Navy and Coast Guards:
Well, gentlemen yes you can grow a beard if you are in Indian Navy or Indian Coast Guard but that too with the consent of the CO.
But condition here is unlike Para SF and Marcos your beard should be well maintained it shouldn’t be the badass beard.
- Sikhs in Armed Forces:
The Sikhs in the Armed Forces are allowed to grow their hairs and beards as it is being a part of their religion.
So the Forces doesn’t restrict them to follow the custom of their religion and allow them to do practice so.
- Dogra Regiment:
If you are in Dogra Regiment then you are allowed to maintain moustaches extending and covering cheeks.
So, guys, these were certain norms under which you are subjected to grow beards and facial hairs in the Armed Forces.
