In Conversation With Gauri Prasad Mahadik, Recommended For Indian Army
It was indeed a pleasure for DDE to have a conversation with Mrs Gauri Prasad Mahadik. We hope this conversation will inspire the young aspirants and motivate them to achieve their goal.
Gauri Prasad Mahadik, is all set to follow her husband’s footstep and join the Indian Army upon completion of training. She would be joining Officers’ Training Academy (OTA) at Chennai and post the 49-week training, will be inducted into the Army as a Lieutenant. Gauri couldn’t clear the SSB in the first attempt due to lack of preparation, but with determination and zeal to join the Army she got recommended from 21 SSB Bhopal and topped the merit list in the following attempt. She is joining the academy on 30th March and after her 49-week training she will be commissioned as Lieutenant on 14th March 2020.
Q1. What did you want to be as a teenager?
A: I always wished to stand out of the crowd. I was fascinated with water and its sound, so my wish was to join Navy, either as a Merchant Navy or Indian Navy Officer but you know how was the condition 15 years back..
Q2. Did defence forces fascinated you from beginning?
A: Yes, as I mentioned joining Navy and who doesn’t want to serve the country..Either join the forces or make a small change in the society…So finally I got married to Captain Prasad Ganesh Mahadik from Army on 15-02-2015. Now will be a part of the prestigious OTA Chennai from 1st April, 2019.
Q3. Who has inspired the most in your life and how?
A: Before marriage I never had any role model or inspiration because I still think it is you who has to get inspired by yourself. If you don’t have the zeal and enthusiasm and even if you see a lot of motivational and inspirational videos, nothing is going to change. But yes, after marriage, my only inspiration is my husband, Major Prasad Ganesh Mahadik. Looking at his picture, I just smile and say START.
Q4. How did you feel to be a part of defence family after your marriage?
A: The proudest moment to be called as Major Prasad Ganesh Mahadik’s wife. Army is your second family like our Unit 7 Bihar..Though my husband is not with me physically, he connects me to the best people around me..I got connected to his coursemates, my new SSB friends (my lifelines, I can say with whom I studied and got recommended) and many people from society and defence forces.
Q5. What are things you liked about Indian Army?
A:
a. Serving the nation..Nation comes first, your own family comes second and you come third. | b. Army as a family |
c. Best work cultural organisation to work. | d. Organised set up..Clearly laid SOPs. |
e. You know yourself and a lot to answer | f. Physical fitness |
g. Adventure | h. Everyone is focused |
Q6. What motivated you to join Indian Army?
A: Obviously the legacy to continue. My husband was the first-generation Army officer both from his paternal and maternal side and I will be better half generation from my parents’ side.
Q7. What was the best lesson you have learnt from your life?
A: Live your everyday full of joy, happiness and with lot of passion and never leave your closed ones as you never know the next day you will get up or no.
Q8. If not Army Officer, what else you would have pursued?
A: I am a Law and B. Com graduate and a Company Secretary by Profession.
Q9. How was your SSB experience?
A: I can say roller coaster. My first SSB was just a new experience but for my second SSB, I studied with full preparations. Some SSB aspirants, to name a few, Srishti Rana (AIR 2 CDSE Non-Tech entry), Varun Pratap Singh (AIR 9 NCC entry), Anandi Bora (AIR 10 NCC entry) and many more helped me with current affairs, GTO and other small things. So Srishti and Varun are joining with me at OTA Chennai. I would say group study helps…
