Sikorsky MH-60 Romeo Helicopters for Indian Navy
Sikorsky Aircraft Company has released the first picture of Indian Navy’s MH-60 Romeo Helicopter #RomeoForIndia on Indian Navy Day. Indian Navy has signed the Contract of worth 2.6 Billion Dollars with Sikorsky Aircraft to buy the 24 MH-60 Romeo Helicopters. Sikorsky Aircraft Company, whose Parent organization is American Aviation Giant Lockheed Martin will start delivering the Helicopters from early 2021.
The MH-60 Romeo Helicopter is seen as a replacement for Indian Navy’s aging Sea King Helicopters. The MH-60 Helicopter is capable of Conducting Anti-submarine Warfare, Anti-Surface Warfare, Logistical Transport, Search and Rescue Operation. The Helicopter can switch to Armed Platform which makes it more deadly. The Helicopter can be operated from Aircraft Carrier, Frigates, Corvettes, Destroyers, Landing Tank Ship and Ground Helipads.
Indian Navy is procuring the MH-60R versions. The main features of MH-60R Helicopters are Glass Cockpit, Night Vision Goggles, Advanced missile warning system, AN/ALQ-210 electronic support measures and Multi-Mode Radar with Automatic Radar Periscope Detection and Discrimination (ARPDD).

Induction of MH-60 Helicopters will boost the efforts of Modernizing the Indian Navy. The Navy is Inducting Kalvari Class Submarines and by early 2022, INS Vikrant will be Commissioned into the Indian Navy.
