Rafale Aircraft : when are they coming ?

Rafale aircraft is made by the Dassault aviation (France). The Rafale jet has a range of range of 3,700 km and a top speed of 2,130 km/h

It’s a two seat variant, designated as RB 008. RB stands for Air Marshal R.K.S.Bhaduria as he played a major role in the deal and he was the deputy chief of IAF during the contract
negotiations for 36 Rafale jets.

The announcement was made by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Paris in April 2015, stating “critical operational necessity” of the IAF.
In 2016, France and India signed a €7.87 billion Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA) for 36 Rafale multi-role fighter jets in fly-away condition.

As per the IGA, deliveries will begin 36 months after the signing of the contract and be completed in
67 months.

In the midst of all the controversy over the Rafale deal, RB 008 will be delivered to the IAF by 2022.
