Meet Major Kanika Who Completed Khardung La Challenge
Major Kanika of Indian Army became an inspiration to young girls as she has completed one of the toughest marathons in Leh.
The Khardung La Challenge (72 km) is the Highest Ultra Marathon in the World which is a race of Ladakh Marathon. The 8th edition of the Ladakh Marathon began on 6th September and finished on 8th of September.
This race is amongst the Toughest and Ultimate Challenging Endurance Race for the serious runner who wants to push his or her limits to the extreme.
This race is Only for the fittest and very experienced Runners. The harsh conditions makes this extremely tough as you will be running approximately 60 kms of the race at above 4000 m (14,000ft)
The Ladakh Marathon is the highest and amongst the toughest marathons. Of the 04 races in this event, the Khardungla Challenge (5370m) is the World’s Highest Ultra Marathon. Covering a distance of 72km this race tests the limits of human endurance.
Unlike other marathons, the Ladakh Marathon requires you to arrive in Leh atleast a week in advance to acclimatise for race day. You are running at 3500m above sea level so it is imperative that you get acclimatised to the high altitude.
1st, 2nd & 3rd position in the 8th edition was bagged by Ladakh Scouts Regiment of Indian Army.
