Shortlisting of candidates is done on the basis of cut off marks decided. Therefore you need to have a good score in your academics in order to get shortlisted for the interview
Although vacancies are relatively less, Technical entries provide an opportunity to appear for the interview directly without worrying of clearing the written exams otherwise.

ENTRY-1

NCC SPECIAL ENTRY

This entry provides an opportunity to NCC cadets to appear directly for interview often called as SSB interview (Service selection Board Interview) after being shortlisted based on the basis of their academics

What is the eligibility to appear

Age At the time of commencement of course candidate should be 18 1⁄2 to 24 1⁄2 years
Education Minimum 50% in graduation. Cadet should have served for minimum 2 academic years in the senior division/ wing of NCC. Also, he should have obtained a minimum “B” grade in “C” certificate exams of NCC
Gender Unmarried Male and female candidates are eligible to apply
Nationality A citizen of India, or a subject of Bhutan, or a subject of Nepal, or a Tibetan refugee or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India

Ranking in merit list is identified by the total marks secured by the candidate in interview. Finally let’s assume there are 100 candidates who made into the merit list and your rank in merit list is 68 further the vacancies required are just 70, In that case everyone ranking from 1 to 70 will get a Call letter to join the academy (course) for training.
Rest of the candidates will be considered merit out and have to undergo the same procedure again from scratch.

What about training at OTA Chennai

Duration of training will be 49 weeks at OTA Chennai.
All your expenses will be borne by government. You will be provided with all basic necessities and leisure wherever required. Further special care is taken at the MESS (dining hall of OTA) where the best class of delicacy are served every day.
Over these benefits you are also liable to receive stipend per month at your respective service academies in post commission training. The stipend keeps accumulating till your Passing out parade (POP) and total sum can be encashed at the end.
Once you are commissioned as an officer, your starting salary will range anywhere around 80k keeping aside all other benefits and perks
Finally, if you intentionally leave the academy in between, you are liable to reimburse the cost of training.


ENTRY-2

SSC JAG

This entry provides an opportunity for law graduates to appear directly for interview often called as SSB interview (Service selection Board Interview) after being shortlisted on the basis of academic score.

What is the eligibility to appear

Age At the time of applying candidate should be 21 to 27 years
Education minimum 55% marks in LLB Degree (Three years professional after graduation or 5 years after 10+2 examination). Moreover, the candidate should be eligible for registration with Bar Council of India/State. Candidate should be from a college or University recognized by Bar Council of India.
Gender Unmarried Male and female candidates are eligible to apply

As an Air Wing Senior Division ’C’ Certificate holder of the National Cadet Corps, you can apply to the Flying Branch of the Indian Air Force. Men & women can join the Air Force through this mode of entry.

What is the eligibility?

Age At the time of commencement of course candidate should be 20 to 24 years (Exception: Upper age limit for Candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxed up to 26 years)
Education Minimum 60% marks in each in Maths & Physics at 10 + 2 level. At least 60% in Graduation from recognized university OR Cleared Section A & B Examination of Associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

What is the eligibility?

Education Post Graduation Degree in any of the following Science stream/Mathematics/Statistics/Geography/Computer Applications/Environmental Science/Applied Physics/Oceanography/Agricultural Meteorology/Ecology & Environment/Geo-physics/Environmental Biology. All candidates should have scored a minimum 50% marks in aggregate in all papers of Post-Graduation put together (provided Maths & Physics were studied at Graduation level with a minimum of 55% marks in both).

Commission Worthy Scheme

This entry provides an opportunity to sailors already serving in indian navy to become an officer.

What is the eligibility to appear

Age At the time of commencement of course
Non-Artificer sailors should be less than - 221⁄2 years
Artificers sailors should be less than - 24 years (One year relaxation will be given on case to case basis)
Education Minimum 10+2 with math and Physics
Artificer sailor – Minimum 5 th class specialist
Non-Artificer sailor – Minimum 3 rd class specialist
Gender Both married and Unmarried Male candidates are eligible to apply
