DRDO Laboratories – All You Need To Know

DRDO is one organisation that takes the laurels for its outstanding achievement. Consequently, it takes the blame for its inability to deliver the required systems on time.

DRDO was formed in 1958 under then functioning Technical Development Establishment (TDE) of the Indian Army and the Directorate of Technical Development & Production (DTDP) with the Defence Science Organisation (DSO). It was a small organisation then with 10 laboratories only.

Today, DRDO is a network of 50 laboratories and growing. They play a major part in our research and development. Over 5000 Scientists and about 25,000 other scientific, technical and supporting personnel are its workforce. The total budget of DRDO for the financial year 2018-19 is 17,861.19 crores. As a matter of fact, India is the 2nd largest arms importer now.
